Today, I will be bringing you guys through one of the places that I visited while I was at Taipei. It is the gold mining site otherwise known as Jin Gua Shi. If there is any spelling mistake, the translator is to be blamed! Heheh!
We walked out and took bus number 1602 that will bring you to the gold mining site.
Spotted at Sogo, Taiwan!
People, say hello to my travel partner!
Reached the site after about close to an hour ride.
I really do not know what does the chinese characters said. Probably Jin Gua Shi??
It was a really cool area as the mining site is situated near the mountains. I remembered buying 3 lovely postcards from here to post it out to people as souvenirs. =)
One of those wonderful pictures that Haley, my camera, can produce sometimes still surprise me.
The police station at Jin Gua Shi. Very traditional looking, isn't it?
We, then head over to the other side to see the part of the buildings and items that are still preserved from the mining days.
Look at their post box!
Here are a few items that those miners used back then.
I am sure everyone is very familiar with this telephone. But when I pick it up, there is a voice like an audio guide that will guide you through those items found on that desk which also happened to be a working station of one of the miner.
I assumed this was their torchlight back then
Table lamp, clock, radio...
Calendar...
Coins, keys and scissors
Their safe box?
Typewriter! Looking old and ancient...
This is their time sheet! You see those numbers filled in the box? Those are the hours that they worked.
Owhkay...I had no idea what is this...
And this I assumed is their pay slip! We were then ushered into a room to watch a video on the mining site which I personally find it quite interesting.
This place must have been some hundred years ago!
We found the railway!
And we made Lulu pushed us. After all, she is a qualified miner. Hahax!
<3
I love the scenery. It was a whole lush of green and it was cooling..
Entrance to the mining site...
It was a no entry area
Try to guess what is the wall/portrait behind me made of? It is GOLD, you guys! And when we were taking pictures, we were not suppose to touch/lean on the wall.
How gold mining was done back then...
And how gold was extracted. This is a wax figure, mind you. He creeps me out a little.
And guess who gets to touch one really heavy brick of gold???
It was freaking heavy alright! And there are CCTVs everywhere!
Till the next one, dream of gold alright? Hehe! =)
